Rhythm, Chord, and Malykhin by Mariana Zapata

Summary of Book: When Gaby Barreto’s twin brother invites her to go on tour as his band’s merch girl, she isn’t exactly screaming at the top of her lungs with joy but with nothing else lined up, she accepts the invite. She’s expecting long nights, crazy moments and a lot of drama. What she isn’t expecting is Sacha Malykhin, the singer of the headlining. Her plans and expecations for the tour go up in flames just like her growing feelings for Sacha.

“Not liking you is like fighting gravity.”

This was a great, different book in the terms that it follows a music group while they travel on tour. This book is filled with road moments, music moments, nice, slow-burn moments and a… slightly disturbing cheese moment. Yeah. You’ll know what I mean when you read it. Kind of grossed me out but still, love, love, love.

“He was the end to my beginning.”

I wouldn’t say that this was up there with The Greats like The Wall of Winnipeg and MeKulti, and From Lukov with Love. It was still amazing, again, let me reiterate that. But once you read the three I’ve just mentioned, once your expectations are set so damn high, it’s hard to reach that bar.

“I wouldn’t trade you for a million dollars, Mase.”
His reply was to beam at me.
“But for ten million, I’d work out some kind of visitation schedule”

Rating: 4 out of 5.
